Mission Statement
 

The mission of Elgin/New Leipzig Public School is to promote a positive learning environment for all individuals.

My educational philosophy is based on a quote from Harry Wong an education authority:
 

“School is a serious place. You go to school to study, work, and produce–just like in an adult workplace. School is where you go to learn skills that make you a productive citizen and grow to your fullest potential as a human being.”

I feel school is the student’s job at this moment in time and expect them to do their very best to achieve their fullest potential. I will help facilitate that success for them.

Sharon Klein is an instructor at Elgin – New Leipzig High School which is located an hour and fifteen minutes southwest of Bismarck. She teaches 11 and 12 grade English. She  teaches courses on the ITV Great Western Network – German I and Spanish I. She is also an adjunct English lecturer for Bismarck State College as an early entry English 110/120 teacher on the GWN.  She enjoys the diversity of her teaching position and the opportunity to work with students from all over the state. She is entering her 41 of teaching and has an undergraduate degree from DSU and master’s degree from VCSU. She has been a finalist for ND Teacher of the Year and ENL and Grant County Teacher of the Year. Sharon has been involved in the mentoring program for more than 15 years as a mentor and mentor trainer and has repeatedly experienced the benefits of the NDTSS initiative in the teachers she has mentored.
 

Sharon’s husband Harlan farms and ranches with their son Joel. Joel is married to  Brittany (Harris) the kindergarten teacher at ENL and they met through the mentoring program! They have two children: Landon – 2 years old and Kennedy – 9 months old.
